Have you ever visited a restaurant that elevates your senses while eating? Well in San Juan there is one that lifts you before your dining experience begins.

We are talking about Fly Dining, where gourmet cuisine meets breathtaking heights at over 100 feet above ground level. Your seat is part of a unique structure that accommodates 24 guests around a table and bar along with a staff that includes a chef, host, waiters, and DJ.

The thrilling experience starts as soon as you arrive at 1807 Loiza Street. All guests are fitted with a wristband and escorted to a waiting room that is a bar where you can order a drink or appetizers while you wait for your boarding time.

Guests are presented with a menu that changes every two months. The arugula salad with beets, smoked goat cheese with nuts, tomatoes and vinaigrette dressing as well as the pumpkin soup with carrots, pear and ginger are the same food items for all but guests can choose their main dish. The options are roasted chicken breast with mushrooms and parmesan cheese; beef ribs in sauce with vegetables or shrimp with polenta, herbs, and cheese.

Dessert options include vanilla and lemon cheesecake with raspberry sauce or a white chocolate tart with strawberries and merengue.

When it´s time to fly, the host will direct you to your seat and when all guests are securely strapped in that´s when the fun begins. There are no weight limitations but it is highly recommended that guests are at least 55 inches tall to be able to sit comfortably and reach the table.

Once seated, guests are served champagne but you can request your beverage of choice. The DJ creates the festive setting and the chef begins to prepare dinner. Slowly the entire structure is lifted by a single crane to suspend guests in the air.

At the top, the aerial setting gives you 360-degree views of Loiza Street, parasailing in Isla Verde and Ocean Park, the planes arriving or departing to or from Luis Munoz Marin airport, but nothing beats seeing a spectacular sunset from a different perspective while sipping bubbly with the cool breeze caressing your face.

Gradually the food plates are parading in front of you and the attentive staff guides you through the entire experience.

Once it´s time for dessert, the music continues even though the dinner experience is about to end. The staff provokes guests to dance in their seats, sing Happy Birthday and even throw confetti. The ambiance is so fun that you don´t even realize your being lowered to the ground.

When safely landed, the staff helps take off the safety belts and everyone passes to the waiting room.

Fly Dining is open from Wednesday to Sunday and offers several experiences. They serve Brunch with a View on Saturday and Sunday and the experience lasts about 45 minutes and includes a 3-course meal along with a few alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages. There is Happy Hour in the Clouds available from Wednesday to Sunday with one seating daily at 4 p.m. This is a 35-minute experience and includes unlimited house bubbly served with a few appetizers. And the Dinner amidst City Lights available Wednesday to Sunday at 5:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. seating. The 55-minute experience includes a four-course meal just before or after sunset.

Fly Dining also provides a kid’s menu with items like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mac and cheese with chicken and French Toast with strawberries and cream.

There´s no doubt Fly Dining is entertaining, adventurous and most of all unique.
