Your adrenaline adventure begins with skydiving in Puerto Rico
Explore Arecibo, enjoy its gorgeous scenery and savoring its bars and restaurants is entertaining but not all the fun of this coastal town is on land.
If you are looking for a dose of adrenaline rush that you can’t feel in water sports activities, then you should include in your travel itinerary, skydiving.
The city of Arecibo can offer the opportunity to achieve that goal of the thrill of freefalling while hearing the roar and feeling the intense wind on your face and the acceleration of your heart beat while seeing the beauty of the island with its green and blue hues of the ocean and mountains as you soar in the air.
SkyDive Puerto Rico is a skydiving school founded in 2016 and situated at the Antonio ‘Nery’ Juarbe regional airport (PR-2 km 69.5). From there your adventure begins.
You board a small Caravan plane that accommodates up to 14 passengers and you jump into the sky and land softly either on the airport runway or edge of the beach thanks to a parachute. You get to choose where to land!
Before you jump, the instructors give a talk, present a video, and answer questions. There are 10 instructors. The jumps are scheduled from Wednesdays to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and there are up to 20 daily flights. In fact, their record is catering to 100 clients a day.
At SkyDive they specialize in tandem skydive jumps, where you and another person share a parachute. The jump from 10,000 feet has a 30-second freefall while a jump from 14,000 feet has a freefall time of one minute. Those who dare to jump from 18,000 feet have a freefall time of a 1.5 minutes. Once the parachute opens, the soft descent lasts about six minutes and the most requested jump is from 14,000 feet.
There are few limitations. The person should be 18 years or older (there have been clients as old as 86 that have jumped). You should not weigh more than 250 pounds, should not have undergone a recent surgery or have existing back problems. Otherwise, even paraplegic clients have jumped at SkyDive as well as marriage proposals have been celebrated and there have been nudist jumps. Everything is possible, just ask.
The price for a jump fluctuates between $200 to $600, depending on the height, location, as well as photo and video options elected.
According to Ernesto Diaz Zambrana, owner of SkyDive Puerto Rico, 30% of those clients who jump repeat the experience less than a year and 60% repeat on another occasion.
“For those who have their doubts on doing it, I highly recommend to jump. You will see it is an incredible experience. It will eliminate your fears and surpass expectations and goals,” Diaz Zambrana said.
The Skydiving Castaway Festival will take place in February 2026 where a group of over 400 professional skydivers from SkyDive Chicago will participate. There will be opportunities for the public. This successful event took place in 2024 and three national records were achieved while the public enjoyed the formations realized in the sky.
Besides jumps, SkyDive offers training in the sport for people interested in practicing it regularly and celebrates camps, workshops, and conferences with international recognized skydivers.
